The Horween Shell Cordovan Emerald Mr. Gripper is a study in patience, restraint, and rare material done properly.
This emerald green shell carries a quiet gravity. The color is deep and saturated, shifting subtly in the light and inviting a second look. The scent is warm and unmistakably Horween. In hand, the leather is dense, smooth, and refined, with the unique suppleness that only shell cordovan delivers.
Shell Cordovan is Horween’s most demanding and celebrated leather. It takes six to nine months to produce, moving slowly through vegetable tanning, hot stuffing with oils and waxes, careful shaving, and hand finishing. Nothing is rushed. The result is a leather prized worldwide for its natural sheen, longevity, and velvety hand feel.
This subtly marbled shell was hand selected for us by Skip Horween himself. From the moment we saw it, it was clear it belonged on the Mr. Gripper. Only three pieces could be cut from the entire hide. When they’re gone, this expression of emerald shell is complete.
(These shells cost over $180 a piece. So this Limited Edition run understandably needs to be priced accordingly. We sold 1 to a walk-in and 2 remain)
