There's something about old military field gear and a well-worn waxed hunting jacket that just gets better the more beat up it becomes. Scratches, creases, dark spots, a little grime. All evidence that somebody actually used the damn thing.

That's pretty much where our heads were when we built this one.

For today's Limited Edition, we took our compact Defender Daytripper and built it from Olive Drab TexWax™ Wax Canvas, then lined it in Autumn Plaid TexWax™. The OD starts out beautifully understated and will crease, scuff and develop character with use. Open it up and that Autumn Plaid completely changes the conversation.

And what old hunting lodge doesn't appreciate a little fine Whiskey? The bottom is built from hand-skived Horween® Cavalier Whiskey Leather, with matching Whiskey Leather details throughout. It adds another layer of character now and should only get richer as the whole bag ages together.

The Daytripper has always been our smaller answer to the traditional briefcase. At just 5.5 liters, it'll handle the daily essentials without making you feel like you're commuting with luggage. There's a padded tech compartment, useful organization inside and out, and a detachable shoulder strap so it can move easily from briefcase to crossbody carry.

And because DEFYing convention is pretty much baked into our DNA, we finish the whole thing with a 1" imported AustriAlpin COBRA® quick-release buckle capable of holding more than 1,000 pounds.

Is that a ridiculous amount of buckle for a 5.5-liter bag?

Of course it is. That’s half the fun.

The result feels a little military, a little old hunting lodge and very DEFY. More importantly, all these materials should only get better as you beat them up. This isn't a bag we're particularly interested in seeing stay new.
