For this Limited Drop, we paired 18 oz. Desert Tan TexWax™ Canvas with our Buffalo Plaid TexWax™ interior, and we're pretty sure these two materials were waiting to find each other. Desert Tan gives the Recon a beautifully worn-in, utilitarian exterior while the Buffalo Plaid hiding underneath the flap brings just enough old-school warmth when you open it. Think vintage field gear meets an old waxed hunting jacket, then make the whole thing in Chicago.
And both sides are built to age.
TexWax™ is a paraffin-infused cotton canvas that's water-resistant, tough as hell and designed to develop character with use. Creases appear. Colors shift. High points lighten. Every scratch and scuff becomes part of the bag instead of something you need to worry about. The more you carry it, the more it becomes yours.
Then there's the hardware.
Over $60 worth of dual imported 2" AustriAlpin COBRA® quick-release buckles secure the flap, using the same serious hardware trusted in demanding military, climbing and rescue applications. They're completely overbuilt for a messenger bag.
Which is exactly why they're there.
Inside, the Buffalo Plaid TexWax™ continues throughout, giving the Recon an interior that's every bit as considered as the exterior. A dedicated padded device section comfortably carries a 13" MacBook Pro, while the spacious 11-liter main compartment handles notebooks, headphones, chargers and the rest of your daily haul. Under the flap, simple organization keeps pens, cards and smaller essentials from disappearing into the abyss.
The detachable 2" military-grade seatbelt strap lets you carry it comfortably across the body or over the shoulder, while solid steel swivel clips, MIL-SPEC webbing and our oversized seatbelt-webbing handle finish the job.
