There's something about an old hunting lodge that just gets better with age. Dark wood, worn leather chairs, waxed canvas jackets hanging by the door and those wonderfully cozy, almost regal plaid fabrics that look like they've been there forever and already have a few stories to tell. If you've ever watched The Gentlemen and found yourself paying as much attention to the interiors of those old British country estates as the characters themselves, you'll know exactly what we're talking about.
That's pretty much where our heads were when we dreamed up this version of the Parker Pack.
On the outside, we've gone with rugged 14 oz. Olive Drab TexWax™ Original Wax Canvas. Water-resistant, understated and the kind of material that looks better after a few years of creases, scuffs and adventures. Think old military field gear meets your favorite well-worn hunting jacket. But unzip it, and things get a little more interesting.
Inside, we've lined the Parker in Autumn Plaid TexWax™ Wax Canvas. Warm, rich, beautifully old-school plaid that feels like it belongs on the walls of a British country manor's hunting room. Cozy, a little regal and completely unexpected inside a bag designed to get thrown around and taken just about anywhere. A little old-world sophistication hiding inside a wonderfully overbuilt Chicago-made hip pack. We like that combination.
Of course, this is still the Parker Pack. At just 3 liters, it's the perfect grab-and-go companion when you don't need a full backpack but still want your essentials close. Phone, wallet, keys, camera, sunglasses, whatever you've got planned. Two generously sized compartments with water-repellent YKK VISLON® AquaGuard® zippers keep everything accessible without unnecessary bulk. Wear it around your waist, sling it crossbody across your chest or throw it over your shoulder and carry it on your back. However you wear it, the Parker's one hell of a versatile little sidekick, with adjustable MIL-SPEC webbing to dial in your fit.
And because we're DEFY, we couldn't possibly finish a 3-liter bag with some ordinary plastic buckle. Instead, we use an imported AustriAlpin® COBRA® quick-release buckle capable of holding over 1,000 pounds. Roughly $30 worth of Austrian-engineered hardware on a little hip pack. Necessary? Probably not. But that's half the fun. There's also a heavy-duty D-ring for attaching a carabiner or whatever else you want to bring along.
The result? A little military field gear, a little British hunting lodge and a whole lot of Chicago-made Bada$$ery. Take it hiking, take it traveling or take it somewhere muddy. Let the Olive Drab waxed canvas develop its own patina while that beautiful Autumn Plaid waits inside.
